I've been using this product every morning for over three years and the funny thing is that I recently realized that in the three years every single other product in my skincare routine from my shampoo, body lotion and washes and everything in both night and my daytime routines have changed often except for this. It's never even occurred to me to try to find a replacement! It's so gentle yet keeps my skin exfoliated, soft, glowing and hydrated. This realization lead me back to the Ordinary and Niod to try many of their other products hoping to find a few more keepers.
I love how this product leaves my skin glowing, I use is every night and will never stop.
i am a going to buy this but is it okay if i use a CERAVE SA smoothing cleanser and then use this serum or do i have to buy the ordinary cleanser as well as the serum?? i just need to ensure that using a CERAVE cleanser and a whole different company’s serum wont lead to me breaking out.
I can really see a difference after using this product and recommend it! One question I have is if I can layer Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicon on top of it? My skin can handle it just fine, but my question is, if combining the 2 products like this renders any of them less effective? Many thanks! DECIEM Response: We are so glad you are enjoying The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%! If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, we suggest using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. Thank you for this lovely review! ❤
very bad product \n100% do not reccomend \nalmost died using this my entire face is burning to ashes
I have used Amlactin (a lotion with 12% lactic acid) for many years for my KP (bumpy skin) on my arms and legs. While it works amazingly, I’ve always hated the smell and feel of the lotion. When I found The Ordinary and the direct lactic acid, I thought this could be the solution. It was!! When I get out of the shower I apply some to my arms and legs (it really doesn’t take much, I just make sure to cover it all, not necessarily saturate) and within a few days, my skin is soft! It doesn’t sting or smell at all. I couldn’t be happier, especially for the price. \r\n\r\nAlso, I highly recommend the moisturizing factors.
Alright folks, this is my holy grail! I’ve been dealing with hormonal acne for a few years now, and even my Rx retinoid wasn’t really making a dent. Enter my new routine from The Ordinary, and I finally don’t have any new acne popping up — the lactic acid is the MVP here. I used to alternate it with vit c, but once I started using the LA daily, my skin has really transformed. I love this stuff! My skin is pretty used to strong formulas, so I haven’t had any problems with sensitivity to this, but I always use my SPF! Thank you thank you thank to The Ordinary for making skincare affordable, accessible, and most importantly—effective!!
I’d been using Hyaluronic acid which is great for moisture but when I get stressed out, I get pimples that result in dark spots. So I watched a few YouTube videos and the ladies(Dark Skin women) all recommended it. I had nothing to lose so I tried it. LET ME TELL YOU GUYS THAT IT WORKS! These days, I don’t wear as much makeup. I just put on lashes and draw my eyebrows in and I’m out. Just purchased more before this review!
Title says it all. I work outside in rough weather, so my skin is so dry it flakes on my forehead and cheeks, I have texture on my chin area, and old and new acne on my jaw. Two months of using this (plus the granactive retinoid from this brand) have made my skin baby smooth, cleared up almost all of my acne and is making inroads on my scarring, and has completely gotten rid of my flaking. For less than $20 for both, it’s amazing. I usually have very sensitive skin so I was leery of anything called a “peeling” solution, but my skin has been remarkably tolerant of this. I would highly recommend at least trying it.
I have had this product for over a month now, and I'm glad to say that I can finally see results! I have pretty good skin overall, but I bought this because I could feel small bumps on my cheeks and see a couple black heads under my nose (my exfoliation game is not on point...). \r\n\r\nSince this was my first time with chemical exfoliation, the first few times I mixed this serum with hyaluronic acid to minimise the sting. It didn't really sting much - and if it did, it was gone in 5 seconds. I use it 2-3 times a week, and my skin is much brighter and has a lovely glow in the morning! I also had weird ingrown hair marks on my chin which have significantly lightened.
I've been using this for a month now and I'm finally starting to see a difference. My skin is smoother and brighter. The night I first used it I noticed how smooth my skin felt the following morning but I did purge pretty quickly within the first week of using it. I also sometimes get those tiny bumps on my forehead and this has helped them a bit but it did take a few weeks before it began to smoothen out. I have dry sensitive skin and have had no issues using this 10% version though the first few weeks I did mix it with a moisturizer starting with just 1x a week but now I use it every 3-4 days without mixing. I will say making sure your skin is hydrated and moisturized while using this is so important as well as wearing sunscreen during the day because it can make your skin sensitive to the sun. I like this product and will be repurchasing.
I actually preferred the older formula I find this new formula isn’t lasting as long because I have to use three times as much and it dries so quickly once I start applying it. Also I don’t feel it’s as effective
Simple formulation that does a nice job exfoliating while and plumping up the skin. I use this maybe once a twice a week, a small drop at night time only, after cleanse and a hydrating serum, topping with a light moisturiser in winter months. I find my skin smoother and firmer in the morning after using this. Of course, it's important not to exaggerate (not to use too much or too frequently), and to follow with barrier repairing skincare and sun protection.
I have been using this product for more than a month now for my skin to get used to it. Because I thought using it for a certain amount of time will build up tolerance to my skin but NOTHING. Every time I used it at night, I either wake up with some acne or some tiny bumps all over my face. It is REALLY DISSAPOINTING because I've read so many good reviews about it and thought it would have similar effects on my skin but it DIDN'T. Now I have to deal with ACNE thanks to your product. I originally found The Ordinary while on the hunt for a more affordable alternative to my beloved Sunday Riley Good Genes lactic acid treatment. Someone commented on the YouTube channel of a beauty guru I love and trust and said that The Ordinary Lactic Acid treatment worked beautifully for a fraction of the cost. I ordered this product about a month ago and have been using it nightly since it arrived. I don't know if it is quite as magical as Good Genes, but daaaayuuuuum, is it close! I use about a 1/4 dropperful at night after cleansing and a spritz of toner, before applying a few drops of The Ordinary HA 2% and a full dropperful of The Ordinary Argan, Marula or Rosehip Seed facial oils. My dry AF, sensitive, mature skin is positively glowing, and I am getting unsolicited compliments from strangers on my skin for the first time in my life. Thanks, Deciem!
I bought this around 10 months ago. Soo the first couple of months I used it I used it on an inconsistent basis so I probably didn’t use it properly. Despite that, some of my acne scars faded away! Not all of them but enough that I thought this serum would positively impact my face. Fast forward about 8 months later my skin started to get sensitive from frequent sun exposure (I think I didn’t use a strong enough sunscreen) and when I used this my skin would sting a lot, I started getting pigmentation issues, and it’d feel really dry. I took a break for a while but then went back to using it. It’s been two months since then and my skin still stings slightly and my skin tone is still slightly uneven (I’m using it about once a week). I’m almost out of the product but should I buy this again or try a more gentle acid?
I bought this exfoliator a few months ago and I have slowly built it into my regime next to Mandelic Acid i use simultaneously (not together tho). In the beginning, I just used it 1x per week while I kept on using the Mandelic Acid but less frequently to let my skin adjust. Right now I use Lactic on the first day, the second day without exfoliator, the third with Mandelic, fourth without, fifth LActic again..etc.. I actually love these as when i have a few spots coming out, i just use one of them for the night and by the next day they usually go away or don't get that inflamed. I feel like the Lactic acid is a bit stronger but I haven't really had any bad reactions, no tingling or anything. The texture is nice as well, less oily than the Mandelic. I did not regret buying the 10% instead of the 5%, works well once you work out how often is the best to use it for your skin.
I use it every night for about two weeks now and my skin rewinds to my early 20’s smoothness. I did purge for about 2-3 days and still are getting some under skin acne every three days around my mouth but that could be from wearing Face Mask Covers during the day. I’m taking two stars off because of the packaging, I noticed it’s a common thing for the dropper to not close tightly after couple of uses. It goes on an angle (also happened to my Niacinamide bottle) and unfortunately it spilled and I lost 70% of the product, good thing it was cheap. Will purchase again but this time buying a Niod Pump.
I started with the Mandelic Acid 10% + HA, then moved to the Lactic Acid 5% +HA and then made it to this product. Each time I used one of the products I was impressed with the texture change in my skin. However, each one (Mandelic and Lactic 5%) just didn't seem *quite* strong enough. Immediately after using the 10% strength I was impressed the next morning. My skin texture has dramatically improved! I caution people going directly to this, start slow and low, go for the lower dose and then go up in concentration. My skin was use to the 5% (over 3 months using it) and then when I changed to the 10% I had almost no skin irritation. Patience! I love this product! DECIEM Response: We're so happy you're loving The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%. Thank you for your review! <3
One of the best acids in such an economical bottle !! Although it has 10% lactic acid, it does not cause dryness or irritation to the skin .. it spreads exceptionally, offering spectacular results, but it takes time compared to glycolic acid, which has more immediate results .. but it is more suitable for sensitive skin like mine !! The routine I use and I saw my skin change dramatically in 3 months is: always at night once a week lactic acid 10%, once a week serum glycolic, once aha30% ordinary peeling solution all this with my morning moisturizer ..the rest of the nights I layer some ingredients from ordinary (hyaluronic, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, buffet) and on top I use retinol cream! First wrinkles, itchy, dull, tired and thin skin, sun signs everything changed in such a fast time..age 30
I've been using this for about a year and a half a this point, I use it each evening (and the ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin in the day). I've seen long term change in smoothness and glow of my skin. Only knocking off one star because sometimes the bottle stoppers are not very secure- I had one in a bag while moving and it spilled everywhere because the cover popped off. Numerous times I'd close the bottle and the top would immediately pop off again. I buy multiples at a time and this happened with more than one bottle. Its annoying but the product is good. This is, hands down, my favorite skincare product. I have for years battled dull skin and tried to minimize ancient acne scarring, and this (alternating with retinoid emulsion) has completely cleared my closed comedones, and my skin is so much smoother and brighter than ever before! While the scarring is going to take more time, more retinoid use, and maybe some laser treatments, my skintone is more even, and feels wonderfully soft. Does tingle a bit upon application (though perhaps I use too much) but there is no burning or irritation. I do not have sensitive skin, btw.\n I follow this up with argirelene, shiseido ultimune concentrate, and buffet before my usual PM moisturizer and eye cream. I wake up pretty shiny but, damn it, my skin feels good!
I’ve used a different lactic acid treatment for at least two years now and was paying dearly for it because of the great results I got. I read about The Ordinary’s alternative and I’m so thrilled to have found this company. I have used the 10% solution for the past month now followed by the cold pressed Argan Oil. This week I went to a continuing education seminar for work and had multiple compliments on how great my skin looked from coworkers I see about twice a year. I love the plumping effect that I get from the lactic acid treatment. And I see my skin’s texture is looking fantastic and the appearance of my pores is reduced. Can’t say enough great things. DECIEM Response: Hi Denise! We are so happy you are loving your results with our Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2%! ❤
Honestly got this months ago as a part of my nightly routine, to use a few times a week. Kept on using it although i didn't see a huge difference, so i didn't hate it but didn't love it either. Two weeks ago the weather suddenly dropped to subzero temperatures and all of a sudden the skin on my face became so dry, in two days it felt like a was wearing a mask of dried, cracked, peeling skin, an absolute horror to look at and feel (seriously like sandpaper), and don't even get me started on the effect under foundation.\n Used this in the evening, and in 2 days it basically got rid of the dead skin all on its own. I just never really realized the effect it has because my skin has always been pretty normal, but this episode has gotten me 100% convinced!
