I’m very pleased with the results after using The Ordinary shampoo and conditioner.\nMy hair feels soft, well-nourished, and looks noticeably healthier after just a few uses. It’s easy to brush, has a natural shine, and doesn’t feel heavy. I also appreciate the minimalist formula without unnecessary chemicals.\n\nMy only suggestion would be to increase the bottle size, as the products are excellent but finish rather quickly.\nOverall, one of the best hair care duos I’ve tried — I will definitely repurchase.

I bought this on whim when getting my face cleanser. I didn't have much hope as I have horrible frizzy fine hair and hormonal hair loss.\r\n\r\nHonestly after a week of use my hair looks and feels so much better. \r\n\r\nThe bad reviews are talking about lack of foam etc. It is not meant to foam. Just take a small amount and really really rub it into your scalp for at least 2 minutes. Wash twice if you use lots of products. And your hair and head will never feel cleaner.\r\n\r\nThe conditioner is also brilliant.\r\n\r\nThe photo is blow dry with no other products at all.\r\n\r\nLove. Please make bigger economy size.

This shampoo is great! The only feedback I have is that it def needs to foam up a little more so it can actually get through the hair into the scalp (I have fine hair but dense), and you definitely need to sell larger bottles. The lack of foaming means I have to use quite a bit per shampoo session and with the tiny bottles?? Yah, I run out very fast.

I’ve recently made the transition to fragrance free beauty products. Ive had an extremely itchy scalp my entire life and this has made it go away 95% \n\nOnly 4 stars bc the bottle is so small which leads to more plastic. Ordinary please make a larger bottle or cardboard refill

Im a white female, age 32, brown hair with alot of greys. I think my hair is thin, fine, and dry; oily scalp. I rarely use any products, and I like to air dry my hair. My scalp can often feel very dry and irritated with shampoo, even if the shampoo makes my hair feel really soft/hydrated.\nOkay so I LOVE this shampoo. I've only been using it for a few weeks, but as for now, it will be my new go-to shampoo. Gentle cleanser, which I'm fine with because I like to wash my hair everyday. I double cleanse. My hair is super manageable, soft, silky. Everything I'd want my hair to be. 100% I'd recommend.\nPeople mention the problem with getting product out when it's getting low- yea, a new bottle shape would be better!\nI haven't used the conditioner (yet) because I'm still using my old conditioner.

HollyBells11 months ago

Shake the bottle and it will create a foamy product instead of the odd liquid gel. It will still be thin but you’ll get an amazing lather! \r\n\r\nThis is great for clarifying and daily use. \r\nI have hip length hair that gets build up easily. This keeps it squeaky clean. Hope they make bigger sizes with pump.

Seriously Diceim why SLS? This is not a ‘gentle’ shampoo it’s an oil stripper.

I love this shampoo, my scalp and hair have never felt heathier, I'm convinced this shampoo should be everyone's first choice. I'm sorry worried that they haven't had it in stock for so long!

I had such high hopes for this - it's fragrance and oil-free and doesn't have a long ingredients list. Also, there's nothing I'm allergic to. It is gentle, but unfortunately, it's sooooo drying. After one use my hair and skin were dehrdrated and itchy. I tried it a few more times, but each time was worse. This would be good for sensitive, oily hair and skin. I wish The Ordinary could make a comparable cleanser for dry skin.

I've gone through a whole bottle of this now, and it's left me with some mixed feelings. I really like what this shampoo does for my hair. It feel really good after each wash, and my scalp seems happy with the ingredients... But this formula is super runny and doesn't lather that well, so I feel like my long hair needs way more product to cover everything. I try to be sparing, because I know you don't need a lather to be effective... But I still find I have to use far more product than I would normally need to get the job done. If this came in a larger bottle and/or went further with use, I think I'd love it more!

This is the first shampoo that not drying while cleaning greatly.\r\nI've been using this for about 2 months now.\r\n\r\nFor preference, I have mixed curly hair with about 3 different curl types on my head.

While I think this is much too stripping as an everyday shampoo, it's excellent as a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any silicone build up, etc. I also appreciate the rectangular bottle as it makes for easy storage. Not much else to note; it's very bare bones.

Just in case you’re trying this shampoo bc of the minimal ‘clean’ ingredients but you are allergic to cocamidopropyl betaine, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT PUT THIS SHAMPOO ON YOUR HEAD. The allergic reaction I experienced was HORRIFIC and lasted for days, even after I rewashed my hair with a safe shampoo 3 hours after using. I knew it was a shot in the dark trying as it has SLES and I was hopeful maybe it was derived from palm oil instead of coconut oil but I was wrong, so very wrong. Coconut allergy peeps this shampoo ain’t it! My hair did feel very soft and clean however my entire body from my scalp to my legs was burning fire so I couldn’t really enjoy the effects of the shampoo.

I am OBSESSED with this cleansing hair and body product. I have allergic reactions to everything. Especially the bleach my stylist uses to color my hair. For this, my oily scalp becomes flaky, my hair becomes greasy on top and dry cracked ends on bottom. This shampoo completely changed the game for me on all aspects. I usually have to untangle my hair and it breaks off after a wash. Not this time. My scalp felt so so clean, my ends looked lively again for the first time in years, and my hair felt light and clean. No longer heavy and dull from my other VERY EXPENSIVE products I usually use. It’s also amazing on my body. I can use this as one body wash when usually I have to use 3 different products in the shower. LOVE IT!!! THANK YOU ORDINARY for always bending around the curve of the usual products we see today.

Almost every shampoo makes my scalp itch -- or over cleans. I was so desperate that I resorted to using Dawn dish detergent ( if they use in on ducks, I figured if can't be that bad . . . )This works better for me than anything else to simply clean the scalp - and hair, but honestly, the hair doesn't need much cleaning. Only those of you who have a problem with erupting scalp -- THIS doesn't trigger itching or breakouts and soreness on the scalp. And the bonus is that you can carry this on trips as your all purpose face, body & hair cleanser. I'm getting closer to tossing out all of the hair stuff purchased - for volume, for moisture, for eliminating brassiness and just using this. I've now used it enough to be sure it wasn't a temporary improvement. It's safer and gentler than any other shampoo.

By no means is this shampoo a clarifying shampoo, but I think it leaves the hair fairly clean and is gentle enough to use multiple times a week. The trick to getting it to foam up is to wet your hair thoroughly and then lather up the shampoo before working it into your hair. This product works perfectly for me even though I have oily hair. The only problem I have is that I lose a bit of color every time I wash my hair after I dye it, even though it's supposed to be a permanent dye. Also, I noticed a bit more hair loss with this shampoo, but it's not an excessive amount, yet still alarming. Overall, I like this product, but I'm not sure if it's causing my hair to fall out or if it's due to something else. You may want to stay away from this if you dye your hair.

While I enjoyed the conditioner of this product, I wasn't too satisfied with the shampoo. I did not like the texture of this product. It was too watery and thin for me to even get a good bit to put in my hair. It took a lot just to get my hair to lather up with this shampoo. While it helped my scalp and hair with hydration and build-up, it took too much product to put in my hair. \n\nWhen using on my skin/body, I did not like the way it felt. It was too thin to get on my body and it didn't lather like other products. Yes, it helped with dryness on the skin, but it takes way too much to put on my hair and body. \n\nThat's why I rated a three. Others might have a different opinion on this product, but this is my experience. I'm not saying don't try it and I'm not saying not to give it a chance for your hair and body. I hope this helps someone else who's interested in this.

I bought this + the conditioner to try while waiting for HIF Hydration Support to restock. If you’re looking for a replacement for a regular shampoo/conditioner this may be worth a try, but I wouldn’t recommend hoping for the same results you get with HIF. My hair feels limp & lifeless by comparison to how well HIF works for it, & my scalp is starting to dry out. I’ve tried supplementing with the Natural Moisturizing Factors scalp serum, but that’s 3 products instead of 1, & even after 2 weeks with the scalp serum my hair & scalp just aren’t as happy. I was disappointed to learn that there won’t be any more HIF. I’ll be looking for a cleansing conditioner from another brand, & hoping that y’all decide to roll a cleansing conditioner out under The Ordinary in the future.

I was very skeptical as to whether or not I would like this shampoo. My hair is waist length and gets incredibly tangled due to years of abuse from dyeing it every color imaginable. My biggest complaint is that I got approximately 4 good washes out of one bottle. The lather is very thin and takes a lot of work to go from root to end. It would definitely work more efficiently if it were used by someone with shorter hair than mine. I did however have a lot of luck regarding scalp irritability. My scalp gets super dry and flaky if I use the wrong kind of shampoo and I was delighted that it helped clear that issue up for me. Overall, I would recommend if you have scalp issues but would not if you are looking for a daily cleanser for long hair.

I received this unexpectedly. My hair had been falling out tremendously so I thought this might help. I had nothing to lose since my hair couldn’t get any worse. I’ve been washing my hair with this shampoo for approximately 2 weeks. I haven’t noticed any extra hair falling out which is important. My hair comes out clean and fresh without feeling dull. The shampoo doesn’t give much of a lather which is a setback. The lather let’s me know that I’ve actually cleaning all my hair. I’m starting to get used to applying it better so that my scalp is covered. Then I add a little extra water to make more of a lather for the length. This doesn’t have a real scent. It’s clear like hair gel. The bottle is a little inconvenient. It should be narrower so it fits in my hands comfortably. I’m going to finish the bottle and see if my hair gets healthier with use.

I have to say, I was a little apprehensive when I saw the ingredients list. Recently, sulphates have received a bad reputation in the beauty bizz; they are often to blame for over-stripping hair’s natural moisture which can lead to greasiness and flakiness. I made the switch to sulphate-free shampoo a little while ago to limit the damage on my locks, but it seems The Ordinary is here to make a case for sulphates in my haircare regime.\n\nThe shampoo only contains 4% sulphate concentration, which seemed to be the Goldilocks amount to get a good lather going without drying out my hair. As my locks are on the oilier side, and I use lots of styling products (dry shampoo is the main culprit), I tend to be a double-cleanse gal. But I quickly found that, with The Ordinary’s shampoo, just one cleanse could get that squeaky clean feeling.

Package came unmarked so I was not aware of what it was but so excited to find the ordinary brand hair and body wash, conditioner and hair serum. I purposely waited to wash my hair for this first time use. They were packaged nicely. Directions on each bottle were simple and easy to comprehend. Upon pouring the hair wash in my hair I was not impressed by the consistency of the shampoo, it seems a bit thin. It did not create a lather or bubbles however I could absolutely feel the difference in the feeling of my hair upon rinsing it out. As far as it being a body wash I would say it makes a better body was then a shampoo. There was a very light scent but no perfumes or distinct scent. I will use it a little more and update the review with long term use and once my hair dries I will update with how it feels and appears.

I’m a huge fan of The Ordinary’s skin products but I was a little hesitant to try the new shampoo/conditioner without any reviews (especially bc I didn’t love their hair density serum), but I’m glad I did!! Seems like a very basic formula that doesn’t have any unnecessary ingredients that strip your scalp. A little goes a long way (and I have very long hair hair) Very gentle but actually cleans your hair well! I was a little confused at first bc it doesn’t really lather much and it leaves an odd silky/residue feeling once I rinsed it out. I thought my hair was still greasy but once it dried I actually loved the texture of my hair! Felt healthy and I think it’s exactly what my scalp needs to recover from being overly greasy to compensate for winter dryness. The conditioner is really nice too! Neither product left any heavy residue that would weigh down my hair. I’m impressed!
