The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane 30ml

I have been using this product twice a day for about 8 months. I use along with several other amazing products from The Ordinary. My face feels smoother, more hydrated and has helped the fine lines. I’m 65 and really love their products!

AMAZING HYDRATION!!! Love that it is ONLY 1 ingredient! And that is all it needs. Amazing hydration with no oily feeling. I have been using for over 5 years, am now 50. Use it morning and night. My favorite way to use is mixing with a scoop of the 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder at night and apply to my face, mostly cheeks and upper chest area, to help reduce uneven skin tone. My 25 old daughter has been using for years and my 13 year old daughter just started using! It is now a FAMILY THING…I just wish The Ordinary was around when I was their age:)

I originally purchased this for my very-dry-New-York-Winter skin and it definitely helped! The product is SUPER oily and emollient (which is my reason for 4 stars ONLY. I know that's its purpose but just a personal preference) but my skin did not break out.\r\nHowever, I recently read somewhere that this was also safe for hair (I wish I could find where I read this).\r\nI massaged a VERY small amount into clean, damp hair and the next day my hair was SO soft and my frizzy flyaways were almost non existent. It provided me shine without looking greasy. I personally like it better for my hair but it works for both for me!

Wish I could give this product 11 stars because it really is that good. I've been using the Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 serum and the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA moisturizer since Christmas (which also work wonders btw) and decided to hydrate more as colder winter temps approached. Boy am I happy with that decision. The 100% Squalane leaves your face so so so moisturized and bright, plus, and I swear this is the truth, I haven't gotten a single pimple or flake of dry skin since I began using this two weeks ago!!! A useful tip: use minimal amounts of the Squalane as it truly is more of an oil than serum. Keep up the good work guys, will be buying again!

My sensitive skin drink this up during the winter season. Soothing and absorbing. \r\n\r\nPlease package it in bigger bottles such as 200ml. It'll help the planet and our wallets.

My hair became dry, brittle and tangled mess when I was asked it. I have tried several moisturizing hair masks over the past month with no success. I used this oil 0n my scalp and hair and left it on overnight as I had done with the other products. It washed out easily, no tangles and my hair is red back to its original state.

My skin is all messed up so I don't try new things much anymore. I actually bought this for my scalp but saw a reccomendation for squalane when looking at skin barrier repair information and though might as well. And it's amazing. It barely hurt when putting it on (high praise believe me) And I was able to tolerate it on my skin for several hours before I washed my face. It's now the next day and I've washed my face a second time and I can still feel its (amazing!) effects. \r\n\r\nI'm honestly stunned at the (somewhat lasting) change this has made to my skin after one application. Won't leave pics cause they'd just scare people away but seriously wow. I'm hooked.

This SAVED my skin. I'm from upstate New York, so my skin really took a hit this winter in combo with my Curology treatment which speeds cell turnover causing me a lot of dryness and irritation this dry season. I had no moisture whatsoever, yet I was still breaking out so I couldn't stop the Curology treatment either. This brought back hydration and did not clog pores at all and now I'm back to using my Curology treatment nightly with no irritation. Also, I think it's helping reduce my acne by creating a balance in my skin with just the right amount of hydration. Those who need hydration with acne-prone skin due to masks or whatever the case is, this is it!

I've been using this as a hair oil, and I have to say it has helped with my hair health tremendously. It gives off a lovely and subtle shine. My hair used to be VERY dry before using this, but after just a quick few uses I have seen it spring back to life. I have gone through at least 5 bottles of this already, adding a few drops after every shower right before I comb through my hair. Can't recommend this enough

I bought this to use on my short grey hair but decided to try it out on my face after reading all of the positive reviews. I love it! I have very reactive sensitive skin which is now dry post-menopause having been oily all my life. I feel like I'm having to relearn skincare! I'm now using this in the morning and it works great under make-up. As it's not an oil, it's not at all greasy and disappears into my skin leaving it moisturised and comfortable. Highly recommended.

I've never written a review before but just had to say thank you for this one.\r\nIt's my favorite Ordinary product and just perfect for my skin. I've been using it every day for a few years now. My skin is very balanced, but tends to have a few annoying breakouts every other week. This product did not make them go away, but using it daily (am and pm) definitely helps my skin stay hydrated and feel at ease.\r\nIt's got an oily consistence but does not clog pores and makes my skin a bit shiny (but in a good way) which I love. Squalane exist in our skin's natural sebum and therefore this product helps greatly in balancing oily skin.\r\nI always use it as last layer after serums and it feels like a layer of protection, really. I feel safe for a day in the city after using it and just never had any problem with it.

I have bought plant-derived squalene in the past but the last time I ordered I was delighted to find/try the lighter alternative of hemi-squalene. I was looking forward to purchasing it again but now find it's not available. After trying hemi, regular squalane just doesn't measure up! Hemi squalane was perfect for my skin and hair, even with just one drop I find plant derived squalane too thick for my fine hair and dehydrated acne prone skin. After trying the multi-purpose, well working routine staple hemi squalane, I can't go back to the regular kind. Please consider bringing back hemi squalane!\n\n*for fans of hemi squalane, I find amino acids+B5 has similar properties and may be the next best option*

Bought this 6 months ago so I could really judge the impact to my skin, and it has been amazing! I have dry skin as a result of contraceptives and so was forced to switch to a more hydrating routine. I use morning/night on my skin and on my type 3c bleached curly hair ends and this stuff is a blessing. ( my hair doesn't grease up and I can go 10days+ without it looking oily so bear in mind) It is a greasy sort of consistency, as with most hydrating products, which makes my skin glow immediately after but soon soaks in, doubling as a great makeup primer for glowy skin. This product isn't needed for non dry skin, imo opt for something like hyaluronic acid instead! I pair it with the squalene cleanser and moisturiser, and intermittently introduce salicylic acid and a retinol, double cleansing at night and not cleansing in the morning.

I had used this before on my face and experienced breakouts. I bought the product again, as I started using it on my hands and ends of hair. Tried it on my face again, very light application. Next morning my pores on cheeks and nose and chin were congested, and I had several white heads. I have dry skin, not oily skin. \r\nMy skin also did not look any smoother or moisturized, just congested. \r\n\r\nProceed with caution for use on face. 2 stars because I like it for use on hands/feet. I can't understand how this is advertised for the face.. I guess it works for some people. I'm 38 for reference and live in the high desert.

So, this review includes multiple products. My morning rountine over the past 2-3 years includes cleansing (another brand or my own cleanser) followed by two drops of the Buffet (one each cheek), then three drops of The Ordinary's 100% Plant-Derived Squalane. One on each cheek and one on my forehead. I follow up with a moisturizer, either 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil, another brand or my own (I use The Ordinary's 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil in it). I tried the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA but I wasn't feeling it. As needed, I use Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG as my eye cream/moisturizer and sometimes on the smile lines around my mouth area.\n\n The Squalane's affects are my skin were immediate and I really enjoy using it. I highly recommend it!

I love this stuff. Have been using it for years since I started with Deciem. I started use the hemi for the summer and the regular for the winter but now I mix them together and it just can’t be beat. Everyone says I glow and my dry skin always feels better and quenched when I have this on. I also use it on my hair. After it comes down from the towel I use a dropper full on the ends and face framing pieces. It makes the frizz go away and the baby hairs settled down and makes it so super shiny it almost looks greasy. But that’s only what it looks like to me. Just like when you use it on your face you look shiny but then it sinks in, well it’s the opposite with your hair. So you don’t need too much for it to do it’s job. Thanks the ordinary for making such a great multitasking product! Couldn’t live without it.

I really dont remember why I bought this, since my skin tends to be rather oily, however, in Winter I can get dry patches on my cheeks. I only use this product occasionaly, mostly after a shower, (longer contact with hot water dries my skin out very bad) Nothing else seems to revive my skin in this case except this product.However, it never seems to be absorbed by my skin fully, I always have to remove the rest (I apply very little, but there is still so much that remains on my skin)I most likely wont repurchase this, maybe try hemi-squalane instead. I really like this because it doesn’t leave my skin feeling overly greasy. I use this at night and when I wake up in the morning my skin looks and feels amazing. It gives my forehead that “glassy” look. The only reason I’m not giving it a 10/10 is because I continue to have dryness and flakiness on my forehead. I really love this oil! It has made my skin so much softer after using off and on for about a month. I have acne prone skin and currently am trying to get rid of hyper pigmentation scarring. I alternate using this with the lactic acid 10% but sometimes if my skin is feeling dry I will just use this oil for a few days straight. I would say that it is not very fast-absorbing for my skin but everyone is different so you have to experiment with the amount and time of day you put it on in order to find what works for you. I usually use it before I go to sleep so it soaks in over night and I wake up to very soft skin. Extremely happy to say it has not broken me out, and actually helps calm redness and irritated spots that look like they might become pimples. Definitely give this a try!

My daughter’s and I have been using this, along with the Niacinimide +Zince and the Hyaluronic Acid +B5 for several months now. The products are great and I love what they are doing for our skin. I highly recommend! I have a question though, is there any reason why I shouldn’t combine the three products together into one of the old bottles I have? It would really save some time in the morning to be able to just apply one mixed product, rather then the three products separately. I have been using this for 5 days now and already I can see/feel the difference in my skin hydration. It looks a lot more “luminous” I guess would be the right word here. I have oily sensitive acne prone skin and I have to say this product feels so lightweight on the skin considering it’s an oil. Best oil I have tried to date that dosnt feel heavy on the skin at all. And for the price my god you really can’t go wrong! Most new products I try usually breaks me out after 2-3 days but I’ve been using this for 5 days in the am&pm and still haven’t gotten any new breakouts so that’s another plus for me :) also have been using this on my lips too and I def find it’s helping with them being chapped now that it’s winter time and I live in Canada! Will def be repurchasing this along with more of the ordinary products in the near future :):)

I've been using Squalene for 10 months now, and I completely stopped using creams the day I first put on this amazing silky oil, perfect for my thin, dry, mature skin. It feels oily for the first few minutes, but after that it soaks in very nicely, and my skin feels pampered and rejuvinated. I apply it 2-3 times a day, after Buffet or Hyaluronic acid, and I massage my face with. I always wait for a few minutes for the water-based solution to fully soak in before applying Squalene. My fine lines have disappeared, my skin is soft, smooth and glowing. I'm so happy to have found the Ordinary products, I 'll keep using them until they stop producing them, which I hope will never happen! I love the prices, too! Thank you, Deciem! ❤️
